Preposition AT
Sabemos que as preposições em inglês têm vários usos e hoje trataremos de um uso bem comum da preposição at.
Usamos at com sentido de direção a, apontando para alguém ou algo. Alguns exemplos:
- To aim at something/someone – almejar algo, apontar/mirar para algo/alguém
He was aiming at the bird but missed the shot. (Ele estava mirando para o pássaro, mas errou o tiro.)
Whatever you do, aim at the stars. (Em tudo que você fizer, almeje as estrelas.)
Whatever you do, aim at the stars. (Em tudo que você fizer, almeje as estrelas.)
- To look at something/somebody – olhar para algo/alguém
What are you looking at? (Você está olhando o quê?)
I don’t know why he is looking at me. (Não sei porque ele está me olhando.)

- To point at something/somebody – apontar para algo/alguém
The cops were pointing their guns at the suspect. (Os policiais estavam apontando suas armas para o suspeito.)
She pointed at the woman she was talking about previously. (Ela apontou para a mulher sobre a qual falava anteriormente.)

- Throw something at someone – jogar algo em alguém (não para alguém pegar)
His ex-wife threw glasses at him the last time they had an argument. (Sua ex esposa jogou copos nele na última vez que tiveram uma discussão.)
She threw the ball at me, not to me. (Ela jogou a bola em mim, não para mim.)

- Laugh at someone/something – rir de alguém/algo (a pessoa é o motivo da risada)
What are you laughing at? (Do que você está rindo?)

Prepositions IN and AT used with Hospital
1) At the hospital= Passando pelo hospital como visitante ou resolvendo algum problema.
2) In hospital= Internado(a), paciente ou trabalha lá
Examples:
a) They are in hospital.(Eles estão internados)
b) I was at the hospital.(Eu estava no hospital,mas não estava precisando de cuidados medicos.)
c) She was in hospital for two weeks.(Ela ficou internada duas semanas.)
d) Are you at the hospital right now?(Voce tá no hospital agora?)
e) I'm working in a hospital now. (Estou trabalhando em um hospital agora.)
